ATM MACHINES ARE ON HIGH RISK ALERT…
As you must be aware that American ATM makers have alerted against
“jackpotting”, a method by which criminals use hacking tools to force ATMs to
spit out thousands of dollars in cash. It is a malicious cyberattack that has
the U.S. Secret Service issuing warnings and banks on high alert. Jackpotting
has been around for years. But its first verified cases in the U.S. were
reported in the past week.
Lot
of machines in India
are still vulnerable to this hack and can face this attack.
Although
experts feel that it can be prevented by implementing a protection strategy
which will ensure the machines are protected not just from Jack potting but
also from other malwares. Apart from ATM machines there are threats of switch
infrastructure getting compromised which are similar to jack potting and for
that also banks need to be ensure proper management of switch infrastructure
and security.
