Photo Enhancement App Meitu Rolls Out Exclusive Features for Holi

MeituInc. (Meitu), publisher of the Chinese Photo Enhancement App Meitu, has rolled out new frames and stickers exclusively for the Indian festival of Holi. The new features are available for download until March 19.

To celebrate Holi, the Meitu App has released new frames and stickers, so users who can't physically participate in the festivities can still get a sense of the vibe by applying the special effects to their photos in the app. The new features are exclusively designed for the Hindu spring festival of Holi - also known as the festival of colors - where people smear one another with colors and drench one another with water guns or water-filled balloons.

Meitu has also launched an Instagram campaign to celebrate the festival. The app encourages users to upload photos onto Instagram with hashtags #meituapp and #HoliWalaSelfie by March 12, and three participants will be selected through a lucky draw and win Chanel's Rouge Allure Ink as a prize.

"India is an important market for Meitu's overseas expansion," said Xinhong Wu, founder and CEO of Meitu. "Meitu will continue to roll out more localized features, effects, and activities in India to bring local users enhanced user experiences.

"Meitu has nearly 100 million users in India thanks to our continuous promotion in the country during recent years," said Wu. "The user number of Meitu App has surged in the past four months since its debut in India last September with monthly active users increasing six-fold and daily active users rising four-fold," he said.

Meitu has been ambitiously expanding its business overseas, and has secured over 500 million overseas users. It has over 10 million users in each of the following countries and regions: Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the U.S.

"In 2016, 27 percent of the daily new installs came from abroad," said Wu. "Meitu is poised to tap into more overseas markets with countries that have a population of over 50 million, such as France, Argentina, or the U.K."
