Taiwan Keeps Up With Support To Boost India’s ‘Digital’ Dream



The Government of India launched its ambitious Digital India program with the vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. In the wake of the Rs 1,13,000 crore project, the government is undertaking several initiatives to boost digital connectivity and infrastructure across the country.

Taiwan Excellence has been at the forefront in supporting the various projects undertaken by the Government of India and also as a keen backer for the Digital India initiative. Recapitulating its commitment to offer its expertise in the ICT sector Taiwan participated during 26th Convergence India 2018 held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from March 7th to 9th. Launched in 1992, the Convergence India series of the expo is credited as one of South Asia’s largest ICT expos. It is one of the few platforms in the region which demonstrates convergence of technologies in Telecom, IT, Broadcast & Digital media sectors.

Taiwan has been a world leader in the ICT industry and Taiwan-based companies command huge market shares in critical ICT products, ranging from computer chips and smartphones to personal computers. Through a platform like Convergence India, Taiwan will be sharing its proficiency in the field to augment various digital projects in India and the world over.

Participating in the Convergence expo for the 2nd consecutive time, Taiwan Excellence reiterated its commitment to align with India’s digital development mission. This year, the organization unveiled some never-seen-before cutting-edge products from its digital repertoire. The BenQ ScreenBar, e-reading lamp AR_17 was launched during the expo. Also on display were some state-of-the-art digital innovations including Avision A4 Black & White Laser MFP AM30A Series, Edimax EdiGreen AirBox Indoor Air Quality Monitoring Solutions AI-2002W, Acer abSignage etc.

Among all featured brands during Convergence India 2018 were MSI, a brand that resonates gaming experience; ASUS, a well-known household name in India for superior laptops; and Plustek, known for its world-class quality scanners. The exhibition also featured other prominent brands, such as GIGAbyte, which supplies some of the most trust worthy motherboards, graphic cards, and laptops on the global market today; Thermaltake known for its three major product lines—Thermaltake, Tt eSPORTS and LUXA2—and have been merchandising high-quality products throughout the world; D-Link Corporation, Aifa Technology Corp, Silicon Power Computer & Communications Inc and so on. A host of senior corporate leaders and stalwarts from leading Taiwanese brands attended Convergence India 2018 including this 2nd exhibition.

Convergence India 2018 showcased the latest trends and technologies related to Telecom, Broadcast, Cable and Satellite TV, Cloud & Big Data, IoT, Digital Homes, Mobile devices, Film and Radio, Content Creation, Management and Delivery, etc. It provided a stellar platform for digital innovators, international business gurus, telecom and broadcasting czars, leaders from IT & Internet and IoT industries for networking. This 3-day exhibition and concurrent conference sessions attracted high quality exhibitors to showcase their expertise and identify the thriving business opportunities in India.

The symbol of Taiwan Excellence honors Taiwan’s most innovative products that provide tremendous value to users worldwide. All products carrying this symbol have been selected as winners of specific Taiwan Excellence Awards based on outstanding R&D, design, quality, marketing and Made-in-Taiwan merits. Initiated by the R.O.C. Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1992, the symbol of Taiwan Excellence is recognized by over 100 countries around the world. Sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), R.O.C.is responsible for implementing policies and regulations governing foreign trade and economic cooperation. 

Established in January 1969, the BOFT's role and position have been adjusted regularly to meet the needs of the ever-changing international economic and trade environments. The BOFT has been guiding and working with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in numerous promotional trade projects and activities both internationally and domestically. Having worked closely with TAITRA for many decades, the BOFT continues to commission TAITRA for various critical government projects relating to business, trade and investment, while promoting Taiwan internationally.

Organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Founded in 1970 to help promote foreign trade, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is the foremost non-profit, semi-governmental trade promotion organization in Taiwan. Jointly sponsored by the government, industry associations, and several commercial organizations, TAITRA assists Taiwanese businesses and manufacturers by reinforcing their international competitiveness and in coping with the challenges they face in foreign markets. 

TAITRA boasts a well-coordinated trade promotion and information network of over 1,200 international marketing specialists stationed throughout its Taipei headquarters and 50 overseas offices worldwide.
