Purifiers, which bring together Dyson’s expertise in airflow, filtration and
electronics to tackle the issue of indoor air pollution completely.
Dyson’s
has more thant 25 years experience in research and development technology for
healthier and more hygienic homes, Dyson launched the world’s first ever
bag-less vacuum cleaner which used cyclone technology to capture allergens,
dust and bacteria 25yrs back.
Dyson
Cyclone V10 TM Cord-Free Vacuum Cleaner
The
new Dyson Cyclone V10 TM cord-free vacuum is built around
the Dyson digital motor V10, which allowed Dyson engineers to rotate the
cyclones and bin assembly through 90 degrees, into an in-line configuration.
The resulting linear airflow path ensured improved suction which allows you to
capture the hidden dust thereby truly deep cleaning your home. Another key
feature is the ‘point and shoot’ hygienic bin emptying mechanism which means
you can get rid of the dust in your home without having to touch it.
Through
extensive global research and in-home trials over the years, Dyson learned that
vacuum owners often believe they need a full-size corded vacuum cleaner to
properly deep clean their home. In India , Dyson’s research showed that
while vacuum cleaners are owned by a large number of people, usage of the same
is limited due to lack of efficacy in cleaning, along with inconvenience of the
bulky traditional format – which can lead to most people defaulting to having
regular cleaning done through traditional methods such as sweeping, mopping and
dusting. However, the ability of traditional methods to properly clean the
home, especially to capture hidden dust, can be limited.
To understand the issue of hidden dust
better, Dyson India and
FICCI Research and Analysis Centre (FRAC) have embarked on a first of its kind
study across Delhi , Mumbai and Bangalore that focuses and analyses the
problem of hidden house dust across one hundred homes. The study is still
ongoing and the initial findings reveal:
· On
an average 125 grams of dust was collected from just four areas in a house
including a carpet, a mattress, one sofa and a car.
· The
captured dust indicated high levels of cockroach faeces.
· The
dust was collected after daily cleaning ritual was over in these houses.
This
highlights the inefficiency of traditional cleaning methods. With the Dyson
Cyclone V10 TM cord-free vacuum, a solution is now
available since it offers powerful suction, extended run-time and the
versatility and convenience of a light weight, cord-free format.
Separation
Of Ultrafine Dust Particles: The Dyson Cyclone V10TM cord-free
vacuum offers constant suction power[2] with cyclone
technology at its core. Fourteen cyclones are precisely arranged around the
central axis of the machine, enabling the airflow inside each cyclone to travel
at up to 190 kilometers per hour, generating over 79,000G, separating ultrafine
dust particles up to a size of 1 micron from the air efficiently and capture
them in the bin.
Efficient
Filtration: Dyson engineers have wrapped both the pre and post-motor
filters around the motor as one sealed unit for improved filtration, capturing
99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns [3] – thus releasing
cleaner air.
Energy
Dense Battery For Extended Runtime: Dyson
engineers wanted to deliver enough power to the fast spinning Dyson digital
motor V10, while also extending the runtime. So they developed a more
energy-dense system, without any additional weight. Along with improved
electronics and battery system management, the new Dyson Cyclone V10TM cord-free
vacuum has up to 60 minutes[4] of fade-free
suction2. As with other Dyson cord-free vacuums, the machine has a
highly responsive trigger, rather than an on/off switch, so the moment you pull
the trigger, the motor starts and accelerates to operating speed in a fraction
of a millisecond.
Cleaner
Heads: The machine offers two motorized cleaner heads, one for carpets
the other for hard floors. In addition to the motorized cleaner heads, Dyson
Cyclone V10™ cord-free vacuum comes with 7 additional tools for cleaning
various surface around your home including sofas, upholstery, mattress, nooks
and crevices amongst others to truly deep clean your home and even your car,
and enables you to capture and get rid of hidden dust.
Air
pollution is a global conversation, and as awareness rises, attention is moving
from outdoor air quality to indoor air quality – where we spend majority of our
time. Outdoor pollution sources like pollen, city pollution and particulate
matter can enter the home even with closed doors and get trapped. This combined
with indoor pollution sources like cooking fumes, cleaning products, pet dander
and disintegrated faces, scented candles and paints can make indoor air quality
equally or more harmful than outdoor air quality.
Moreover,
air pollution in India
is now a year-round problem, across the country, contrary to popular myths
surrounding the issue, including the fact that pollution is a seasonal or
regional issue. In fact the air quality is rarely under safe levels as
prescribed by World Health Organization[5]. And 14 out of 15
most polluted cities in the world in terms of PM 2.5 are in India , as per a recent WHO report[6].
Dyson’s
new range of air purifiers use intelligent sensors to automatically detect and
display, in real time, pollutants such PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs and NO2 in the home
making the invisible now visible. The machine’s brand new LCD display, shows
which pollutants are in the air before capturing them using a 360 degree
fully-sealed filter system that combines a tris-coated activated carbon filter
to remove gases, and a Glass HEPA filter to capture 99.95% of microscopic
particles and pollutants as small as 0.1 microns[7]. Air Multiplier™
technology and 350 degree oscillation project and mix purified air around the
whole room to purify every corner of the room properly*.
*AHAM AC1-2015 standard sets out how air cleaner manufacturers can definie their performance by "the relative reduction of particulate matter suspended in the air in a specified test chamber." This means their performance is based on cleaning efficiency rates only. We design our air purifiers to go beyond best chamber conditions and focus on real home conditions - this is more than just having an efficient filter. When Dyson engineers set out to design an air purifier, their research concluded that to clean an entire room properly, you also need to sense pollutions events automatically; capture ultrafine pollutants; and project cleaner air around the room using Air Multiplier™ technology. Only the Dyson Air Purifier is designed and tested to do all of this[8].
Engineered
Ror Real Homes: Dyson air purifiers are designed to work in real
homes. Some manufacturers of conventional air purifiers gauge their performance
using a laboratory test method called 'Clean Air Delivery Rate'. It is
conducted in a compact chamber just 11.8m2 (127 sq ft) in size,
with an added fan to circulate the air - and only one sensor to measure air
quality. It is not representative of the average living room environment.
Finding
this test method to be unrepresentative of an average real life room sizes and
situations, Dyson engineers created a lab test called the POLAR test. It is
based on a larger room size of 27m2 (290 sq ft), with no added
fan as we don’t use fans in peak pollution winter season in India . The air
purifier is placed in corner of the room which is how it is in real life
environment. Eight sensors in the corners of the room and one sensor in the
centre collect air quality data every 5 seconds, detecting particles of indoor
air pollution that are 300 times narrower than a human hair. Analyzing the data
across all nine sensors lets Dyson engineers ensure the Dyson Pure Cool™ air
purifiers deliver a uniform cleaning performance throughout the whole room.
Sensing: A new LCD
display shows which particles and gases the new Dyson Pure Cool™ air purifier
is automatically sensing in real time. A unique Dyson algorithm processes the
input from three sensors and then displays air quality readings.
Lasers
measure and identify ultrafine particles. A separate sensor detects the
amount of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds, such as benzene and formaldehyde,
emitted from paint, burning candles and materials in furniture) and NO2
present. A third sensor measures relative humidity and temperature.
Capturing: An improved
360° filter – split into individual HEPA and carbon layers - in the new Dyson
Pure Cool™ air purifier captures both particulate matter and gases. Dyson
engineers have incorporated 50% more HEPA media into a taller and deeper
filter, and they’ve introduced three times more activated carbon, which can absorb
gases, odours, domestic fumes and VOCs.
Nine metres of condensed and sealed
borosilicate microfiber filters capture 99.95% of particle pollution as small
as 0.1microns[9], including
allergens, bacteria, pollen and mould. Activated carbon filters, which have
been coated with Tris ( Trishydroxymethylaminomethane) to increase the
absorption efficiency, remove gases including NO2, formaldehyde and benzene.
Dyson filters meet the industry standards of EN1822 and H13-A filter class.
Projecting: The Dyson Pure Cool™ air purifier is the only purifier with Air
Multiplier™ Technology and 350 Degree oscillation, allowing it
to project over 360 litres of purified air per second to every corner of the
room.[10]
To avoid a cooling effect in winter with its
bladeless fan, the Dyson Pure Cool™ features a unique new diffused airflow
mode. Along with the forward airflow mode, which cools you as a fan with
purified air, there is now a diffused airflow or purification-only mode, which
can be used when you want to purify the air but don’t want cool air blowing on
you. The air exits from the sides of the annular loop, directing the airflow
towards the rear of the machine, as opposed to the front.
Dyson
Link app: Available for iOS and Android, the Dyson Link app enables you to
track indoor and outdoor pollution, temperature and humidity levels. You can
also use it to control your machine, set purifying schedules and see how many
hours of filter life you have left. Dyson has tied up with BreezoMeter to get
hyperlocal & real-time outdoor air quality data on its app.
The new machines come with full Over the Air
Update Capability (OTA) – meaning Dyson owners can continue to get the most
advanced Dyson software even after purchasing the machine[11].
The
Pure Cool™ air purifier comes in two variants-tower and desk and two colours-
Iron/Blue and White/ Silver.
